Celebrating 2023 album release "Twenty First Century Fool" at Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh this May: https://ewanmacintyre.bandcamp.com/album/twenty-first-century-fool This particular piece is a live collaboration with aeriel artist and super talented sister "Rachael Macintyre" of Jabuti Theatre and Moray Flying Circus for song "Ode to the West". The song was written about a particularly challenging tour out in western Canada in February 2018 in which I (Ewan Macintyre) proceeded to completely break myself on. It was the culmination of harder and harder touring conditions, with less money and less enthusiasm on my part. I wrote it right at the beginning of the COVID pandemic and for me it reflects a grass is not greener way of thinking in regards to playing music. In many ways, although I wasn't able to perform music due to lock downs etc, the experience or opportunity acted as a time to ground myself and reflect on my paths. As a wise friend told me, it is the fools gift to be able to turn things on their heads; wise in their simplicity. Big thanks to everyone for this amazing evening. The whole evening was fantastic. Wee snippet of our rehearsal the other day playing my first banjo creation over a first world war poem by Dòmhnall MacAoidh/ Donald Mackay. It's a fairly powerful anti war poem about people at the top manipulating us all and sending people to die for missguided, meaningless causes. Playing with my our the fabulous Tamlin Whiltshire, Freya Rae and Bado Reti. We're doing some exciting shows this year going from very acoustic to full blown rock n roll.
